Mary Anne Misner, Anna Turcott and Rotarian Will Vermeer really did their homework this time. These members of the Dryden Geneological Society spent hundreds of hours researching the history of 24 rural public schools that used to dot the landscape in the Dryden countryside.

All that’s left now are some foggy memories for most people that taught or attended these schools...that is, until now.

Will Vermeer recently captivated Dryden Rotarians with his description of the huge effort that went to producing a 106 book containing 137 pictures about the Will V & Jack Mold schools from McIntosh to Dyment, which includes the story of the McIntosh residential school and the Rail Car School. Their research included checking school registers stored at the library, reading old Dryden Observer news on microfilm, reviewing local history books, checking out the internet and even talking to local residents.

The book was published by Mac Print and is sold at Novel Ideas in Dryden... and as a tantalizing sampler, Will provided the 1915 “rules for teachers”.Rules for Teachers
