Schools Out! ..and Safe Grad is a SAFE, all-night celebration for every high school graduate and his/her guest.

Kelly MacDonald is a member of the 2013 Safe Grad committee at Dryden High School. She is also the daughter of Rotary club president Jim Best.

SAFE GRAD starts from 9pm to 4am after the graduation ceremony and is normally held at the DARC Complex and Timber Lanes Bowling Alley. Events at SAFE GRAD can vary from year and can include the Grand March, dance, giant Inflatable games, casino, swimming, movies, bowling, food, prizes, and an auction.

A tremendous effort is needed to host the event and it usually takes an entire year to organize. Kelly talked about the various fundraisers the committee is involved with and highlighted the Designated Driving Program, which in turn promotes the type of social responsibility for which SAFE GRAD is recognized for. Donations and gifts from community businesses and organizations help provide needed capital to hold this event. Kelly thanked the Dryden Rotary Club for its many years of support.

Joining President Sandra Boyko in presenting a $2000.00 cheque to DHS SAFE GRAD 2013 is Rotarian Janet Shaffer who happened to be the organizer of Dryden’s first SAFE GRAD in 2000.
