A number of Rotarians and guests enjoyed a sumptuous Spanish supper at the Vann-Eisener residence courtesy of Alba Posas Solandes (with a little texting to Mom in Spain) We all also learned a few Spanish words to try out over the next 6 months. GRACIAS Alba!
The Food
Tomato Bread |
Roasted Egg Plant in Olive Oil |
Roasted Onions in Olive Oil |
Roasted Red Peppers in Olive Oil |
Spanish Omelet |
Paella |
Bunyols (Fried Bread Balls covered with sugar) |
Escudella (Christmas soup) |
Alba prepared a five course meal. The meal began with the Escudella. This was followed by the appetizers which included a choice of Tomato Bread, Roasted Red Peppers, Egg Plant slices, or Onions each smothered in olive oil and a wedge of a Spanish omelet. The main course was the famous dish of Spain, paella. Alba's consisted of rice, pork, scrimp and calamari. The fourth course was fabulously roasted potatoes with a "salsa" of garlic aioli. The desert course was a choice of a custard "Flam", the Bunyols or fruit infused with the Sangria which had been served throughout the evening.
