Jim Shearer brings Club an up-date on the work of the Dryden Mission

Jim Shearer of the Dryden Mission brought us an update on the progress of his “mission”. He last presented in 2012.
The Mission is now a registered charity existing to help families and individuals find a relationship with Jesus Christ through “Serving One Another with Love".
The Donation Depot takes many items from people which are then sold. Funds are used to help those in need. Many volunteers gain experience working in the donation depotThe Garage provides mentoring for individuals interested in developing mechanical skills. There is some difficulty with this program as they do not have enough mentors.
There is now an over-night program which provides one night’s accommodation for persons passing through if they are referred to the Mission by the police or hospital. Shearer has an arrangement with a local hotel that they keep one room open for Mission referrals.
